Mission Overview:

⭐️

Local is the norm.

Many of the products we use daily come from afar. This not only leads to significant CO₂ emissions due to transport, but it is also vulnerable. By producing products locally, less transport is needed. We become less dependent and more self-sufficient.

Creating space for biobased production, making land available.
Stimulating demand and product development.
Increasing knowledge and insight
Stimulating and structuring collaboration.

Description

Within this project, we want to connect organic food to biodiversity and our own living environment: from food chain to food web, from mouth to soil. We aim to make the organic food chain visible through video and blockchain. We want to increase the organic supply in the hospitality sector and promote knowledge exchange and collaboration. We want to set a good example with organic production and consumption - good examples inspire imitation.

Products from the Land of Peel do not come from far and are made with passion. Farmers produce delicious and honest products in the Land of Peel. The Innovatiehuis de Peel and Land van de Peel want to give more recognition and visibility to this. Through strategic promotion, they aim to put the products and producers on the map and increase revenue. Urban-rural connections and regional products serve as the basis for regional experiences. Because farming life and agricultural land are indispensable and authentic components of the landscape and experience of the Peel, the label contributes to the promotion of the Land of Peel. A nice side effect is to stimulate food awareness among consumers. Finally, it contributes to the interconnectedness of the chain: sales-distribution-visitors.

With Zonneakker, we want to install light-permeable solar panels: the free field combined with small fruits. Cultivation of small fruits in open ground, organic, extending the season and addressing climate change. Cultivation and management in collaboration with volunteers with care needs. Landscape and ecological integration of the solar field in Wasven. Energy tailored to the needs of the farm and visitors with a circular battery and smart grid. Education program and monitoring of the solar field.

Local is not always more sustainable. Transport is a very small part of the emissions.

Making local food cheaper and imported products more expensive would help (cheap food + field everyone involved)

Give local food a more visible place in supermarket shelves.

Color coding from red to green clearly and prominently indicates how much CO2 you have emitted by purchasing that product —> instinctively, red means bad.

A place where food is grown together, sold, and eaten, and where courses can be followed.

Robust region = good bus connections are also/precisely needed for the residents of Eindhoven to be able to get home again.

Highlighting local producers to support sales.

Transport should be taxed and therefore returned in the price.

More space for local design in the city instead of/beside large chains (e.g., clothing)

Let consumption and emissions be reported on products (in addition to the kcal, etc.)

Less choice economy and 24-hour economy

Self-building & making to raise more awareness

More information about the footprint of products. Local is not the only important factor.

Supermarkets indicate much more clearly whether the food comes from our region.

Trams

Better insight into what is being produced in the area. Registration + knowledge hub

CO2 label on products in the supermarket

Fruit trees on the street

Local energy cooperative with free energy for the underprivileged.

More taxes on unnecessary extra clothing > from China, etc.

Hydroponics as an innovative food production process. E.g. entry and plant culture systems.

Promote vegetables from local farmers

Use all items (?) from a production process.

Climate Mission Helmond & Eindhoven

Eindhoven and Helmond are working together to become climate-neutral faster and smarter. So that Eindhoven and Helmond are now and in the future pleasant places to live, work and recreate. We map out which actions are needed to get there and who has what role in that.
